Corfu, Greece

Corfu was the first destination for #wandererineurope trip. There are so many islands in Greece, why Corfu? The first reason was cheap to fly in compare to Santorini or Mykonos but after some digging about the island, it was a beauty.

Decided to write this post because there are not much info can be found online especially the public transport. As a person rely on google map for public transportation, there's really nothing much on it which i was struggled and worried about it in the beginning of the trip. My trip in Corfu was about 6 days. I was staying in Perama (where it near the airport, basically heard the planes flying on top of the hotel) for the first half of the trip and moved to Palaiokastritsa (swear to god i can never pronounce this name ><) for the rest of the trip where it is the north of the island.

Perama. Corfu Town.

There are couple of the blue buses going around Corfu Town. As I stayed in Perama which nearer to Corfu Town compare to Palaiokastritsa, so i did a little walk around in Corfu Town. There were line 6 from Benitses to Corfu Town which passed Perama, so easier to access to the town but it is the frequency is not really high. It was about 45mins for weekdays. Sunday is on reduced service.

I was staying in Pontikonsi Hotel at Perama. It has its own private beach but if you are expecting sandy beaches, you might be disappointed. The overall stay was alright, the staffs are nice, the beach is much more quiet as it is private beach. If you looking for more sandy beaches like, and quiet, Benitses are just down the road. Spending the entire day just chilling on the beach, and ended with a nice meal around the place. Benitses is a small place, not much a place for night life but it was perfect for me.

Palaiokastritsa

Im so glad i made the choice to move to another part of the island to stay. Well, you can have day trip travel up to Palaiokastritsa. It takes about 40mins from the Green Bus Terminal where it near Corfu Town (slightly outside). So you can make it for a day trip.

There are many beaches around Palaiokastritsa. The main beach area is opened for public where you can bring your own stuff to just chill there. The only time i went there was for the sunset boat trip. It was amazing. It last about 1.5hours. The captain is a local and he is friendly and told us to wait for a bit more to see the colour changed of the sunset. It was absolutely beauty and worth for the wait.

Then the rest of the day, i was chilling on a private beach. Less people compare to the main beach area. I was chilling at the place where I took the Poseidon bar/restaurant entrance in. There are many deck chair offer at the place. It was about 12.50 euro which is much more expensive compare to Benitses but they have more facilities. I think I spent almost 30 euro for the deck chair, 2 drinks and snack for the entire day to chill there.

Green Bus Terminal

Probably this is the place to interchange between the towns in corfu. I only changed it once which is from Perama to Palaiokastritsa. There are more destinations. The bus to the airport is outside the Terminal where you take Line 15 direct to airport.
